What can i say? This is my Impulse Blog!

I don't know if this qualifies as a bug persay, it's a bit of a grey area.  But i'm posting because i lost about 6 hours of work (yes i know...) on a ship design because of this.  I'm pretty sure it's been well covered since beta, but here goes.

If you create a ship template and save it, and then exit the game without saving the game, your template is completely lost for that game.  While the template is saved, and presumably available for the next game, you can never again gain access to it in the current game you are playing.  Stupid me thought, for sure since the template is saved and i see it there in the list, it's saved and i'll be ok to exit.  Noooooope.  Shouldn't the game scan the templates directory on a reload? Or shouldn't there at least be an import button like GC2? Something?  Even a warning to save the game before exiting... Something.

It's past the beta, I had this issue yesterday and I'm sure this is a bug.  I lost about 1.5 hours!  And, I'm not stoked about it.

Hm, just experienced something similar and started a thread about in "general" (yeah, should have looked here first), I did not save my ships as templates though, but just  as normal ship, but without any weapons etc yet (for further work later).

Hope this gets changed so that these ships become accessible without starting over. I also would love to have the ship designer working from the main game menu, like in GC II, where you just could create a bunch of ships of any size, then launch a game and have them available there once the techs needed are researched.

I'm uncertain if this is a 1.03 beta problem or a GalCiv3 problem in general.. but when you go to save templates and increment them with decimal points (eg. M0.1, M0.2, M0.3, etc), it doesn't save your current design. What happens is that the first design saves just fine (in this case, the M0), and every subsequent 0.x version doesn't save the changes. Reverting to a whole number scheme (M1, M2, M3, etc) has the designer function normally.

I'll make a note for the devs to look at it. Thanks.

Thank you everyone for all the information, I was able to reproduce the issue of ship templates not saving properly and we expect to get that fixed.
