Introducing:
The High Resolution Graphics Mod by LogicSequence
Do you like eye candy? Do you wish Galactic Civilizations 2 had Higher Resolution textures? Do you wish the planets and solar systems looked more realistic? Do you think your PC can HANDLE IT?
Welcome players of Galactic Civilizations 2, to The High Resolution Graphics Mod by LogicSequence. I've been developing this mod for some weeks now, and the time is near for it's release.
In short, this mod will:
Replace the textures for all the races' homeworlds with new, original higher resolution versions.
Replace all Class 0 planet textures with new, original higher resolution versions.
Replace all ring and moon textures with new, original higher resolution versions.
Replace all cloud textures with new, original higher resolution versions.
Include authentic all-new Raw Terrain maps for all of the races' homeworlds.
Add more color variation to the background nebulae.
This mod isn't for the older PC. Some of the textures in this mod are 4096 x 2048 pixels, and many are 2048 x 1024, or 1024 x 512. If your PC meets the recommended system requirements for Galactic Civilzations 2: Dark Avatar, you should be able to run this mod without any problems.

Okay, never mind my above post. I got it downloaded (finally!).
Anyhoo, another problem presents itself. I did the whole "revert to default mods folder, restart, go back to high res, restart again" thing like it says in the readme, but when i started my first game (as drengin) all planets in my starting system are bleached except Drengi. All the planets in my home system except my homeworld are just white spheres floating in space. This seems to be the case for all the major races' home systems, but all other planets are unaffected.
Any help would be appreciated. I think I just put something in the wrong place.

I think I just put something in the wrong place.
Most likely, it sounds like it's not finding the textures.

Why was this only made for Dark Avatar ?? I thought its graghics were already better ??
And why almost immediately after its release ?? GalCiv2 never had such a facelift..

Aceofheart.
The mod was made for DA as it included the special planet classes not seen in DL. As for the timing, do you forget that DA was in beta for 6 months and Logic made us wait for the actual release before releasing the mod

Cool, but when I zoom out I get very low FPS around 5, and when I look at the whole galaxy, I get around 1 FPS

Is there a Dread Lords version of Logic's mod?

I think that answers it, Picard.

This is a wonderful mod! I haven't really noticed the planets as much as the stars... they are beautiful! My machine is only 800 MHz, albeit with 780ish Mb RAM, and a 256 Mb graphics card, but I have all the settings jacked up as high as they will go, and there is minimal stutter and delay when I zoom in. What delay is there is worth it.
StarDock: please consider puting LogicSequence on your payroll, and incorporating his mod wholesale into your next GC product! This mod has added greatly to my enjoyment of the game!
P.S. Why are there two library entries for the mod?

But this mod needs to be toned down on the resolution, but it is still possible for it to look like it is.

is there any way to play this mod in conjunction with other mods? I really enjoy the graphics update of this mod and would like to enjoy them when i play mods like the b5 or star trek mods. Any way to do that?

It is probably a good idea to avoid this mod if you're using integrated graphics.

A few days ago a zip file was available titled HGRMod_v102_patch.zip
Is this still an authorized patch to the HGRMod setup.exe file linked
to above?
And... why isn`t there a link to this patch around anywhere
anymore?
thankx
